The importance of a strong resume
How to stand out from the crowd
By: Markus Spiske
How employers see your resume is what will make you stand out from the crowd.
- Make sure the top half of your resume stands out and everything is clear.
- A one page resume shows you are concise, clear and to the point.
- Customize your resume but don't overthink it. Contact information, last 2 or 3 jobs with responsibilities, education, specific skills, attributes, and experiences you have that would be an asset to your employer.
- Don't hide the obvious things - If you are within 5 years of undergrad add your GPA. Don't leave out any contact information.
A good resume is standard. There is no one "perfect" resume format. It just needs to be easy on the eyes. A great resume doesn't make the person. You and the interview make the person.
